The ARA SERVICE Program recently sponsored the purchase of a wind tunnel for an early childhood education classroom.
The wind tunnel was donated to the Hand-in-Hand Preschool and Childcare classroom to promote early STEM education. This hands-on tool provides students with an opportunity to engage in real-world applications of physics, aerodynamics, and engineering principles. By experimenting with airflow and testing different designs, students will develop critical thinking skills, improve problem-solving abilities, and enhance their understanding of key STEM concepts.
The wind tunnel serves as a dynamic learning resource, providing students with an early introduction to STEM in a fun and exciting way that fosters curiosity and creativity. The wind tunnel allows these young children to start to visualize and experiment with the scientific principles they will encounter in future textbooks as they progress through the education system. In turn, this will help students better appreciate the relevance of STEM fields in everyday life and inspire many to pursue STEM careers.
Additionally, the wind tunnel is a valuable tool for promoting collaboration and teamwork, as students work together to design experiments and analyze results. The experience will not only deepen their understanding of STEM, but also cultivate essential skills such as communication, leadership, and perseverance.
The ARA SERVICE program was developed with ARA’s core value of service in mind. The program empowers employee-owners to serve their communities by supporting STEM education and outreach initiatives and aims to inspire students to pursue STEM education.
