The ARA SERVICE program awarded a sponsorship from its Community Fund for a team of nine high school students from Madison East High School in Wisconsin to participate in a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition.
For the competition, the teams each built and competed with their robots on an obstacle course. The robots they designed and built had to complete some tasks autonomously, guided by cameras and sensors, while being driven by remote control.
Led by robotics coaches with experience in mechanics, electronics, and software from makerspace Sector67, the team competed in the local event finals to 3rd place, and qualified 6th in Offensive Power Rating (OPR).
The robotics competition was featured here in a local news article highlighting the school’s efforts to promote STEM learning.
The ARA SERVICE program community fund has been designed with ARA’s core value of service in mind. Under this program, ARA aims to inspire and motivate students to pursue STEM education and careers.
