AMR: ARA MORIARTY RANGE — Our New Mexico Test Site
At ARA’s AMR explosives test site, testing is currently being conducted for DoD, DHS, DOE and commercial clients. We fabricate test articles and products. Additional events at AMR include rebuilding and testing rocket motor components. ARA has on staff FAA Part 107 pilots who are able to conduct drone flights and capture overhead footage with approved flights up to a 20 mile / 32 km radius.
A conditioned and secure instrumentation room supplements the timing and firing operations. Our instrumentation capabilities have included synchronized Phantom cameras, particle counters, high-speed temperature, pressure, strain and acoustic sensors, along with advanced systems and high channel data acquisition systems.
EXPLOSIVES TECHNOLOGY
The ARA Explosives Team excels at explosives design, acquisition, storage, transportation, predictions, modeling and testing. ARA has the capability to provide accurate timing and placement of explosives to simulate terrorist attack scenarios including IEDs, shaped charges to include explosively formed penetrators, and a broad range of high explosive phenomenology experiments at multiple scales. Specialization in commercial and military explosives. Our experienced explosives group has completed over 3,000 static detonations for phenomenology test and evaluation over the past 40 years.
Our explosives group operates test events in a safe, controlled environment at this contractor owned and operated site. We strictly adhere to regulatory requirements and ensure that all of our preparatory work and calculations keep us within the regulatory requirements. All OSHA, DCMA, and ATF requirements are monitored and adhered to with the utmost professionalism to ensure ARA is providing the safest and most effective tests possible. ARA events conducted to date have had less than 1% of the shock permissible for activities in this area that currently has three active mines and many other activities pushing those limits.
